After pressing POWER you hear, from the rear of the hybrid, one click, sometimes two. Those are the HV battery contactors closing the circuit. That is normal if READY lights up a moment later.
When the click is a fault
- A series of rapid clicks and no READY
- An immediate message about the 12 V battery — the auxiliary one is weak first, not the pack
- Check Hybrid System with a healthy 12 V battery: the contactor, the precharge circuit or isolation
What not to do
Do not hit the battery case and do not reset the car endlessly. Repeated attempts with a damaged contactor only burn the contacts. The codes that come up then are described in the text on fault codes, and a weak 12 V battery — in the article on the auxiliary battery.
